Zero Kieran McKenna Celtic Discussions as Bellamy Pledges to Welsh National Team

Each are being considered with the coaching position at the Premiership title holders following Brendan Rodgers' resignation on Monday.

The Manager's Stance on Celtic

McKenna described Celtic as "a really big soccer institution" but stressed he is "in the middle" of a "long-term project" with Ipswich Town.

The mid-thirties assumed control of Portman Road in 2021 and guided the team to the Premier League with consecutive elevations, but they managed only a handful of victories last campaign as they were relegated back to the second division and they presently occupy 12th in the Championship.

"I have not had any of those conversations," the English capital native former Northern Ireland young player said when questioned about being on the candidate list.

"This isn't a matter I have considered seriously, or where any part of my focus is this week.

"I have a unique job here at a remarkable club. And we're at a crucial phase of the season. Anything outside of that hasn't touched my radar."

Background and Contractual Details

It has been suggested that McKenna would be willing to talk to Celtic given his childhood support.

"During youth, we all have our preferences," he said when asked about these. "I don't think everyone has to go around and declare what they used to be, but naturally it's a massive football club."

The coach signed a new four-year contract in last year and was questioned about his alleged £5m release clause.

"In every manager's contract, there are provisions," he responded. "I don't know what my specific terms are and, were I informed, I wouldn't disclose you anyway!

"I tackle this job like I will remain Town's coach forever. I know that's not invariably going to be the situation, but I'll always give maximum effort as long as I remain in position."

Bellamy's Position

The former striker represented the Hoops on loan from the Magpies in 2005, but the ex- Welsh striker is minded to complete the ongoing World Cup campaign, a position that would effectively rule out the mid-forties from immediately taking the Glasgow position.

Wales are presently third in their qualifying group behind leaders Belgium and second-placed Macedonia.

Victories over the minnows and their rivals in November would book their place in the qualification play-offs, but they are virtually assured of reaching that stage, thanks to a successful Nations League campaign, even if they not end up Group J runners-up.

Considering his present position, the Wales manager, whose agreement expires after Euro 2028, would be unavailable until following the play-offs at the minimum.
