House Democrats have published a additional set of what they labeled "troubling" photographs from the estate of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, including among others Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and ex-UK prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
The first release of 19 images—a portion of which have been previously circulated—combined with another 70 unveiled later on Friday account for a tiny fraction of the almost 100,000 images released to the House investigative panel, which is probing the behavior and associations of Epstein.
The disgraced financier died by apparent suicide in a New York detention cell in 2019 after being charged with sex-trafficking charges.
Included in the prominent personalities shown in the opening set are public figures featuring film director Woody Allen; Microsoft founder Bill Gates; and Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin business group.
Donald Trump is featured in three of the initial 19 images. In one, he is pictured with six women, whose faces are redacted.
The White House reacted to the release in a statement, accusing Democrats of selectively "cherry-picking" the photographs for electoral motives and to "try and create a false account."
"The Democrat hoax against President Trump has been repeatedly debunked," a presidential representative remarked, insisting that "the Trump administration has achieved more for Epstein's victims than Democrats have at any point by consistently demanding openness, releasing reams of records, and calling for more inquiries into Epstein's Democratic associates."
The photographs were released without context, but according to a California Democrat and senior member of the investigative panel, they prompt further inquiries about Epstein's connections to affluent people.
"It is time to stop this White House concealment and deliver justice to the victims of Jeffrey Epstein and his influential associates," he said in a comment.
The publication of these images occurs alongside the oversight committee continuing its investigation into the affair.
