Week six of the 2025 NFL season
Real-time updates includes text commentary of Sunday's games on various channels, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (from 14:00 BST). Additionally, audio coverage is available on designated networks covering another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).
We're in the sixth week in the football calendar , following last week's discussion regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being possible championship contenders, each lost their perfect starts.
Striking during those contests were the amount of infractions both committed. Philadelphia did so in key moments so they essentially defeated themselves having led 17-3 going into the fourth period versus the Denver Broncos, who play in London this Sunday.
But it proved good to see how Denver quarterback the rookie was able to overcome that deficit and then lead three scoring drives on three possessions in the fourth quarter, to win the victory by four points.
The Broncos boast the top defender with cornerback their star corner. They are number one in goal-line defense, while the Eagles lead the league in scoring near the end zone, yet Denver prevailed in that battle.
They executed effective strategies in terms of disguised blitzes. They did not always sending extra defenders but they could position two linebackers in the 'A' gap then drop them out and dispatch a slot defender off the edge.
Early on of the season, we said on a program how the Broncos might emerge as this season's dark horses. They ended the previous year strongly then excelled in continuing that momentum.
Could Denver be this year's dark horses?
New tight end Evan Engram has excelled significantly and new RB JK Dobbins is a guy the team trusts. He's currently 5th in the NFL for rushing yards (402) as well as tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).
It's impressive that head coach Sean Payton displays "RUSH!" at the top of his playcall sheet.
This demonstrates how Denver are a squad that wants to prioritize the run, because one can do a lot based on that approach. It slows opposing rushes and maintains in favourable down and distances.
This has benefited quarterback the young passer, who entered into the league as the 12th overall draft pick last year, passing for 29 TDs – just behind a star QB in rookie records (31 in 2020).
Other elite QBs have the arm strength to pass all over, but they don't move in the same way that Nix has. He boasts exceptional arm talent, a unique trait, plus he's highly agile.
His assets include his movement, the capacity to pass while moving, as well as finding varied release points to make the pass when he rolls out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He can throw that layered pass over the middle and past defenders.
As a rookie QB, aged 25, he's got a lot of composure under pressure and isn't bothered by the blitz. He aims to avoid being tackled as much as possible and can throw under pressure. He possesses sharp intelligence and remains quick to decide.
If you consistently run the ball it consumes the clock and forces the defence to be in play extended periods, and if you have an athletic quarterback the defence has to cover the area downfield side to side. It can be draining.
The quarterback has bitten back at Payton during games sometimes and it seems Payton appreciates that attitude, that he's such a competitor. I think it's fun for the coach to have a young quarterback who's kind of like moldable clay. The coach can really develop him how he wants to shape him. I believe it's a special experience for him.
Payton owns a Super Bowl and has passed a legend for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He's seen everything. I think the success the Broncos are having offensively is mostly down to his leadership, his play-calling, his game sense – and the combination with Nix aids make him into who he is.
You wouldn't want a better guy guiding you, to help you during difficult moments and boost self-belief.
I believe in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But is the team good enough to face a top squad at its best? Since that wasn't a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles in their last game.
Currently, it's unlikely Denver are elite. They're working better than most, that's a good place to be in the AFC West. All they need is to continue this path.
They excel at leaning into their strength, that is the ground game, and this is precisely what they must do against the Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.
The Jets have allowed 140 rushing yards each contest (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the only team yet to win a game.
Ever since the NFL began tracking turnovers decades ago, this team are the inaugural squad to be without any turnovers through five games, this is surprising when you think that their new coach Aaron Glenn a defensive coach with another team.
Patrick Mahomes stated the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' after Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.
After the upcoming matchup, Denver have a manageable slate until their break (in week 12) - the Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans plus the Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Looking at their division, the Chiefs hold a losing record and the Broncos are even with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 so they could make a run for the top of the division.
It depends upon which form Kansas City shows up they meet since the Broncos {beat|def
