Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Anfield in 2024, indicated that a future comeback is a possibility. The 58-year-old, post a game-changing near-decade reign featuring continental glory and ending the club's long wait since 1990, has since taken on roles as head of global soccer with the Red Bull group and providing guidance for the DFL.
The club claimed the league title under Arne Slot, but many fans who adore the manager would welcome the possibility that he might come back one day. Speaking candidly, he shared with the podcast host: “I declared I refuse to lead any other side on English soil. So that means in case it's my former club...absolutely. It's plausible.”
“At 58 years old, that means I could make the decision in a few years, I don’t know. Is a decision required immediately? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, no such pressure exists. I'll simply watch how things unfold.”
Pressed on which situations must arise to bring him back to management, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull for a comeback. “I don’t even know exactly, My present work fulfills me,” he commented. “No longing for management; I avoid standing in the rain for two-and-a-half or three hours; No need for media briefings four times, three times a week or having 10-12 interviews a week.
“I don’t miss the dressing room as a dressing room, however, dining out alongside the squad having a nice chat, that’s nice. We won a lot of games thus frequently great spirits at the club. I can still hear Van Dijk's laughter vividly recalled for example.”
He spoke highly regarding Arne Slot, crediting him for the adjustments that took the title last campaign. Liverpool have lost four consecutive matches across various tournaments after a summer spending spree, though he denied the notion that it might signal the start of a downward turn.
“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward like Florian Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if you use the wrong words. A remarkable prospect. [Hugo] Ekitike, excellent performer. It’s a really good balanced team. Fans shouldn't fret over the club, they'll bounce back.”
He shared movingly regarding the passing of the Portuguese star, a player he signed during his tenure, and the effect for the team. The Portugal international lost his life in a road accident alongside his brother recently.
“Who can fill the void of such an individual? It’s not about his footballing ability, his personality mattered. I struggle to conceive the dressing room absent his presence. I still cannot speak properly regarding this. It was an incredible shock for his teammates also. Not a single person might employ it as an excuse but it is the situation. Being in that space where his spirit remains. Coping with it emotionally is difficult. Overwhelming.”
