A group of learners at an English university have expressed deep disappointment after discovering their career-focused module was predominantly taught via automated systems.
One student and Owen were among 41 enrollees who joined a programming course expecting to transition into tech careers through a state-backed training program.
But the expectations were quickly lowered when they experienced computer-created materials being presented by an synthetic voice.
“If we submitted projects that was created by AI, we'd be expelled from the college,” said the student during a recorded exchange with his instructor.
Students multiple times brought up concerns about the computer-generated resources, yet the college appears to have persisted using AI-generated resources.
Curiously, the university has firm rules restricting student use of AI, stating that presenting AI-generated work represents academic misconduct.
This situation mirrors a larger pattern across universities progressively incorporating AI tools for education, course material generation, and customized evaluation.
Learners observed several signs indicating AI-generated resources:

Another participant, going through a professional transition, said he had opted for the course for valuable knowledge rather than merely a credential.
“Sitting there with content that is merely not deserving of anyone's time,” he stated, “when you could be devoting that time actually engaging with something worthwhile, is truly disappointing.”
Regardless of university assurances about preserving academic standards, students felt the concluding introduction of human teachers was insufficient and delayed” to resolve their core complaints.
