Canada's Blue Jays Earn World Series Showdown Versus Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder previously helped the Houston Astros securing the championship in 2017.

Toronto's Blue Jays earned a spot in their maiden Fall Classic following the 1993 season by beating the Seattle Mariners in the final seventh game of the ALCS.

Behind three runs to one, the star outfielder smashed a three-run homer in the seventh, propelling the sole Canadian team in MLB to a 4-3 triumph in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are the reigning title, in the forthcoming championship.

"I'm thrilled for everyone here, our city, Canada," commented Springer, a star of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 title. "It's truly an incredible feeling."

George Springer has now hit 23 total playoff homers, placing him third in history after Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (27).

"There's probably not anyone else in the world that I want up in that moment other than George Springer with his playoff prowess," said Schneider.

Seattle, after leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, are still the sole team yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson said "there's no question that it hurts" following his club's elimination at their home ballpark, but commended their work in the campaign.

"This is a unique group. Unfortunately that we had to come out on the wrong side of this one," he remarked.

Toronto's team won the World Series on their two prior appearances in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the opener on Friday.
