Comedian and actress Amy Schumer has disclosed that she and her partner, cook Chris Fischer have decided to end their marriage post a seven-year partnership.
The renowned comedian shared in an Instagram post on this week, paired with an image of them riding public transit, that they had made the "challenging resolution" to part ways and will keep prioritizing parenting their young child.
"Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever," she expressed.
The 44-year-old Schumer and 45-year-old Fischer, tied the knot in February 2018 and became parents in 2019.
The star quipped in the online announcement that the split is not due to recent weight loss and not prompted by Fischer's status as an "acclaimed culinary expert who can still attract attention".
Fischer won the prestigious James Beard award in the U.S. Culinary category for his culinary guide published in 2015.
The pair collaborated on the Food Network reality show Learning to Cook with Amy Schumer, which was broadcast amid the pandemic.
They also shared the screen during a docuseries Expecting Amy that chronicled Schumer's experience, who has been candid concerning having a health issue, during her hard time expecting.
She has featured in the sketch show Schumer's Sketch Comedy, the movie from 2015 a 2015 comedy and the 2018 movie I Feel Pretty.
She also wrote, directed and starred in the comedy series Life and Beth.
Several famous friends of Schumer's expressed solidarity in comments on Instagram.
Actress Sophia Bush noted that a divorce "is profoundly challenging without having it be publicly scrutinized… so when the world sees I'll just say be extra gentle with yourself".
Meanwhile personality Gayle King commented: "Amy, having been through it, I know it's never easy. Only YOU could make THIS announcement combining comedy and affection".
